Fountain Route

Dimension: Traditions 

Focus: Local Reality 

Purpose: To develop historical knowledge of the surrounding reality of the Parish of Palhaça. 

Symbology: Water 

Water is the source of life, the reason for the existence of plants, animals and man on the face of the earth. Without it our planet would be deserted. 

Brief description of the activity: In the parish of Palhaça there are 9 fountains scattered in the various places of the parish. The fountains were used very often to wash clothes, when there were not many possessions. 

After this investment by the parish council for the rehabilitation of the fountains, the idea arose to elaborate a route that would pass through all the sources. This idea, with time was being perfected and in partnership with the Associação Desportiva Recreativa e Educativa da Palhaça (ADREP), came up the now called "Rota das Fontes" which aims to make known not only the places in our village, but also the sources that are in them, while promoting the practice of physical activity of the population and visitors. 

The program "Fountain Route" must be inserted in an activity with at least one overnight stay at the Father Horacio Cura Formation Center. 

This program aims essentially to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes towards water and its importance, having a total distance of 12Km. 

General information: The Father Horácio Cura Formation Centre (CFPHC) for the realization of the activity provides the topographic chart and the map of the Clown with the indication of the sources. 

The fountain of Bebe-e-vai-te has a legend that can be attached later.

Canoeing

Dimension: Water 

Focus: Physical and Cultural 

Purpose: to improve physical fitness by raising physical abilities in a harmonious way and appropriate to the developmental needs of the Boy Scout. 

Symbology: Canoe 

It seeks each one to define his or her own direction and goals symbolized as commitment. It will be necessary for each one to strive autonomously for more vigor, strength and intelligence, to advance his canoe, overcoming the obstacles of the way, in order to reach the wharf, more strengthened by the goals exceeded. It is asked for commitment and vigor in the rowing of the canoe to more firmly continue "the journey". It asks for autonomy to make the constant choices of daily life depend on the knowledge acquired in a continuous way. 

Brief description of the activity: The "canoeing" program can be developed by the four sections, however, the capacity of each section should be taken into account, the previous activities developed in order to train the elements for their realization, as well as the previously defined objectives. 

The aim of this pedagogical program is to develop a canoeing activity consisting, in its realization phase, of a canoeing tour in the boco river (located about 7.6 km from the Padre Horácio Cura Formation Center). 

As already mentioned the program should be inserted in a section activity. Therefore, the "Canoeing" program should be only one of the activities to be carried out. 

Within the section activity other activities can be carried out such as these: 

• Raid, using messages, trails and orientation; 
• Collection of information about the fauna and flora of the Ria de Aveiro and its surroundings; 
• Village games with the characterization of the historical, cultural and social reality; 

General information: 

It should be noted that an acknowledgement of the conditions should be made beforehand, namely: 

• Conditions and transport of canoes; 
• Points of departure and arrival on the Boco River; 
• Necessary safety equipment; 
• Maritime conditions. 

It should also promote prior contacts, namely: 

• Captaincy of the Port of Aveiro; 
• Voluntary Firemen of Vagos.

Track for Lobitos

Dimension: Cultural 

Focus: Local Reality 

Purpose: To develop historical knowledge of the surrounding reality of the Parish of Palhaça. 

Symbology: Jungle 

The jungle, outdoor life is the symbol of adventure and mystery. When we live in nature, outdoors, we are one more piece in this great puzzle that is Planet Earth. 

Methodology: This program should be framed in the methodology of the pack project: "hunting". 

General Information: The Training Center Padre Horácio Cura (CFPHC) for the realization of the activity provides the topographic chart and the map of the Palhaça with the indication of the places, for the manager to mark the track in advance.

Way of the Cross - The Glances of Jesus

The Way of the Cross is an ancient Christian tradition. In it we follow with Jesus the last moments of His life. 

It is in these moments, more than any other of His life, that He shows how much He loves us, how much He loves us, how much He is our friend. 

As we follow with Him, let us try not to be merely spectators, but to put ourselves in His place, to feel what He felt, to live what He lived. 

Let us also let His gaze upon us, let Him look deep into our hearts, into our dreams, into our sorrows, into our joys, into our pains.
